The Emma Peel series stories

Posted by Belyn on July 25, 2005 at 19:29:01:

Hi,

I just wanted to tell the author of the stories on the site that they are really great. I've read all of them now and I hope you are planning on writing more. :-)

Date: Thu, 26 Feb 2004

Mia,

A pleasure to "meet" you.

I've read "Mathematics", "Secret Santa" and started a few others. I like your turn on how Emma and Steed met. I have written a short story about them. It's not yet posted anywhere but if you like I could email you directly. I too have my ideas about how they met.

My Very Best Regards,

Johnny O.

Hi Mia

I didn't want to take up so much space on the review page. I just want to thank you for adding the whipped cream to an already very good pie! All of your stories are great! I am one of the older Avenger fans. I first saw John Steed when I was fourteen and have loved him since. Three of your stories were already on line when I found the site. These last two are top of the line! I love the way you are showing how their relationship developed. It's just like finding lost episodes. And the adult content! WOW!!! I'm like all the others, I rush home at lunch break to see if you have updated! I, and I'm sure I speak for a lot more, am definitely addicted! You are on a roll so please don't let us down! And the way you weave the details from the shows into your stories--so good!!! I can tell you are a true Avenger fan! And from what I hear, you have a lot more fans than you think! So please keep us happy and keep it adult!!!

Yours,

Venus

Mia,

I am really enjoying your series of stories on fanfiction.net about The Avengers. What I really like about your writing is your frail for pacing and dialogue. I find that dialogue is the most difficult part to write.

I would like to read your part seven of Twist of Fate when you finish it. Please provide me with your home page if you are not going to post it on Fanfiction.net.

Thanks,

Cindy

This is one of my all time favorite "first time meeting" stories. I think your characterizations are right on the mark. I really think Steed would be smitten with Emma immediately and vice versa. The skydiving at the end was great. That is exactly the kind of thing Steed would come up with. I just love this story!

Dear Mia,

It's fantastic to see this redesigned site. It really does justice to your sparkling stories... I am partial to the "classic" period but I really enjoy seeing where you have taken the protagonists in your stories postdating the era portrayed in the TV series.

Well, I didn't mind this one at all. Well-written, to be sure. I would have appreciated some action somewhere in the story...Emma is a fighting woman, after all...and the romance comes a little too early, I think, in their relationship. But I enjoyed it, and I believe in paying for such in feedback. There you are.

I finished "Four and Twenty Blackbirds" today during lunch at work. Fantastic.

Please allow me to congratulate you on yet another wonderful, touching, entertaining story. I think I've said it before, the two stories set in the early times of the Steed/Peel relationship are so much like an actual episode that it is almost eerie. Plus there's an added bonus. As we read through and experience a quirky and exciting adventure the two of them almost certainly could have experienced in the eps, we also get to be privy to the evolution of their relationship. Those "off-camera" moments and the growing bond I always knew (in my head) were there are THERE in these stories. Also, for someone like me who practically breaks down in tears at the mere mention of The Forget-Me-Knot, interspersing these stories with the post-Peter Peel stories, knowing that in your saga there will be a happy ending, makes me a happy camper.

Keep 'em coming.

Two's Company
From: L. Snow

Of all her stories I've read thus far, this is the most emotionally fascinating and fulfilling. Well-paced and though the um, sheet music, is very hot, the dialogue and relationship is the real melody. Deftly done and immensely pleasurable to read. Kept hoping there was yet another chapter. Such tight control of writing verities, the two now-avowed lovers, and teasing the reader with just enough...

What a treat to find a new story! I really enjoyed this. As always I love all the emotions you treat us to. I like how, as a reader, I know even though they never say it, they are so in love. Steed and Emma are just so great together and you write them so well. I can't wait for your next story.

Dear Mia,

Well, you never fail to amaze us!

Here I am on All Hallows'Evn, and just having finished read your story.

Terrific! Once again, you've captured the essence of Emma and Steed and The Avengers.

That Romance between Emma and Steed, their friendship and their desire for each other. Their Respect and Admiration of and for each other. And this story all in PG-13.

Then you add in the special touch of The Avengers - i.e., is it real or is it fantasy? Explaining just enough of villain and victor.

And, to top it all off, delivered on time for Halloween!

Thanks very much, Mia!

My Very Best Regards,

I really enjoyed your story and thought it was a really good and natural mesh of the two shows. You managed to keep it timeless enough that the decades difference didn't matter. The interactions between all the characters seemed pretty much dead on.

However, I have a couple of technical quibbles with your use of titles in the story. Lady Peel's title is used correctly, but the title Sir is never used with a last name, so it should be Sir Peter and Sir Roald rather than Sir Peel and Sir Wentworth. However, if you crank up Wentworth's title a notch or two, he could be correctly addressed as Lord Wentworth. Still, Peter should be Sir Peter since you make it very clear that he is a knight. Also, and this is more speculative, you have Anna call him as "the Sir", and I don't think that a British servant would refer to her employer that way. I think the standard practice in this context would be to call him "the master." I only bring these points up because they were distractions in what was otherwise a very entertaining story, and I sincerely hope you write a sequel to this one.

Thank you.

Lacorelli

Another one! You amaze me. You are possibly the most prolific Avengers fan fiction writer I have ever encountered. Where have you been all of this time (before you started posting all of these great stories, I mean)? I love the fact that, although each story is a tale unto itself, each one leads to the next. I hope you keep going and going and going, like the Energizer Bunny, until you take us all the way through marriage, kids, and beyond. Gradually taking us through the evolution of Steed and Peel's renewed relationship while they are in the midst of case after case is brilliant. You are so talented, and, as Emma would say, have such stamina. You are appreciated. I look forward to each chapter of every story.

I can´t get enough of Twists of Fate! :)

I just wanted to let you know that I loved all 6 chapters of Twists of Fate! I am wondering now...WILL there be little Alberts, Gordons, Julians and Baby Brians??? Just a little Avengers humour...:) I really loved the openness of the conversation between Emma and Sally!

I hope you will love the Cathy Gale character as much as I do! I have seen all the episodes. The best episodes are in my opinion "The Little Wonders" and "Mr. Teddy Bear". Cathy is, of course, very different from Emma, but I have always thought that Emma would have liked Cathy, because Cathy is very down-to-earth and has a good sense of humour. She is not afraid to criticize Steed (which he often needed in those seasons!!) and I think she would have approved of Emma and the Steed of the "Emma Peel seasons" . To have her in one of your stories would be great!:)

Review of "Twists of Fate"

Mia,

Since it seems to take ages for my review of your new story to show up on ff.net, I thought I´ll let you know via email how much I like it!:) I especially love the development of the relationship between Emma and Sally. I think it´s very interesting to picture Emma as a mentor figure. I am also looking forward to more action from Bond.

By the way, have you ever thought about incorporating Cathy Gale into one of your stories?

I look forward to the twists of fate. I wonder what they will be...

Twists of Fate Chapter 6

Thu, 01 Jan 2004

Hi Mia,

I've been rereading your stories and as the subject says TOF Ch6 is where I'm at for the moment. I wanted to write and let you know how much I really enjoy this particular chapter. My favorite part comes after their lovemaking when Emma thinks she may possibly be pregnant. The way that you write Steed's feelings in this particular scene I think are brilliant. You always do such a great job at showing us Steed (and Emma's) strong sides that I enjoy when we are treated to glimpses of insecurities. I think where Steed's feelings for her are concerned he is very vulnerable. You capture it so well. When Steed is overjoyed, practically ecstatic, that she could possibly be carrying his child and that this way she can never leave him, I find that IMO to be very true to the character. I think those feelings you are writing at the time are very realistic. The people we care the most for are also the people who we are most vulnerable with, the people who can hurt us the most. I really love your stories and have trouble being patient but this particular chapter always sticks out in my mind and I wanted to let you know. Thank you for such great stuff!

Also I enjoyed Secret Santa but never got to comment on it. Very heartwarming. Emma and Steed are just so great together.

Take care and Happy New Year,

Oh boy!

I have just finished chapter 4 and had to write to you. I am a huge fan of Emma & Steed but this story has to be one of the best bit of fan fic that I have read to date.

I watched The Avengers when it was first televised back in the 60's, from Keel, through Cathy, then the wonderful Emma (who became a role model to myself and many of my friends).

This story and chapter 4 has my heart pounding, it is so well written that I have to ask – Have you experienced life on boats in sea's like the story?

For the past 30 years my life has been as a fisherperson in our Western Rock Lobster industry.

I have experienced much in that time, including a rollover in the breakers that left me swimming for 3 hours with sharks all around and losing my dog. So you may be able to fathom how into your story I am. So, thanks and keep it up.rnNow back to your story.

Regards, Peta

Chapters 1 & 2

I like the start. As always something's up and the fun is going to be finding out what it is. I always enjoy how Steed and Emma do so many things together while still having separate lives. They're best friends. I love that aspect of their relationship. It's nice to see Sally again and Gambit. Can't wait to see how they fit into this "Puzzle". ;-)

Chapter 4

Wonderful chapter! I love the airport scene and the return of Cathy Gale was an unexpected surprise. Can´t wait to read the next chapter!

Posted by CrazyMaryT on September 01, 2004 at 18:21

This has been another great story. I've really been enjoying it. I especially like Steed and Gambit's interaction. That's one of aspect I really like in The New Avengers, Steed and Gambit's relationship. I think it's a mentor type but then so much more. It's fun to see the beginning of it. I also liked the scene with Steed at his Mews apartment. Him wanting to give it up IMO seems so natural. Sort of like he is growing up so to speak, moving on, Emma and John are what is important to him. Steed is my favorite Avenger character so it's always fun to see what he'll do next. He's very unpredictable.

It was nice to see Cathy again.

Can't wait for the next chapter!

Mia,

Just wanted to let you know that your stories are delightful. It's wonderful how intricately layered and logical your plots are. I think there is an Italian concept - Sprezzatori (sp ?)- which is to make the difficult appear simple, but simple with style and elegance. Your stories embody that concept. I made a start at a story and the plot line had me pulling my hair. You do it so beautifully. Beyond that, your dialogue is so witty and so well written. I love part where you had Steed referring to Emma as conjuring a retort. That's it exactly-- you create something so light and deft as if out of air.

Anyway, thanks so much.

I have to comment on the pregnancy thing. All I can say is "YAY!!" I want them to have another little Steed. John needs a sibling.

New story

Mia, I just discovered this new story yesterday (I've been extremely busy lately) and am delighted by it. There are so many things I like about it, most notably the mystery, the many unusual characters (all very Avengerseque), and the current setting in Egypt. I've often pictured Steed and Emma crawling around an ancient tomb seeking to solve a case, but had never had the good fortune to read such an Avengers story. It's very exciting. Of course, I've also enjoyed the antics in France, including the monkey. It's nice to spend more time with little John. Sullivan is a welcome addition to the family. And it certainly seems that yet another addition may be on the way. Great stuff. Thanks.

Chapters 12 & 13

Whew! Those were so action packed. I was worried for awhile that Steed and Emma might get hurt or worse. That was so great! As always can't wait to see what happens next.

Posted by CrazyMaryT on September 23, 2004 at 15:20

What a great ending!

This was a great, action packed story. I enjoyed the camel polo match. I could picture it clearly. You can probably guess already that I am so happy with that last scene. Yay another Steed baby!

Can't wait for the next story to see what happens to my favorite super agent couple.

Hi, I loved the story, it was funny, and sweet. I like the way that you showed steed and Emma in their every day life, and how they incorporate their work and family lifestyle just like every one else. I like it that steed can show his true feelings toward Emma in front of other people, and that he do have a sense of humor as well. I can't wait until your next story comes out. Mia, sorry I haven't posted any comments since the prologue. My life is still pretty hectic. I have read the first seven chapters and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Since I'm a dog lover, I've particularly liked the sections about little Pierre. It's fun looking through his eyes at other animals in a cafe, taking a walk with Steed, and barking at Steed's attacker. As always, above all I love the scenes featuring Steed and Peel. I want to take care of Steed and his black eye.

I was suprised when tara's husband died at the end, and Tara is giving up the ministry, what will become of her, and now that Emma's husband is in jail what else is that the end of her troubles for now, I can't wait for you next story to come out. Hi Mia

First off I've been with other obsessions . . . uhmm I mean fandoms. LOL I had watched Forget Me Knot on Fri and thought I need to check out Mia's page.

What can I say? What a great story. Yay Emma's pregnant again. Can't wait to see how that develops. What a great mystery and it was fun seeing everyone. I am really enjoying Sally's development. No one had better take her for granted. I was really surprised that you killed off McCall. I didn't think you would actually do it. That's what I like most about your stories they are unpredictable and exciting. I felt bad for Tara but she was rather impulsive. I guess falling for Steed can do that to you. LOL

As always I can't wait to see what happens next with Steed and family.
