| Seeking Exile |
Beth Anderson is a late-twenty-something marketing specialist living in New York City. She's adrift: between boyfriends, just starting a new job, in need of a cheaper apartment. Instead she finds a sailboat available in a marina on the outskirts of the city and decides to take a step in a new direction.
She moves aboard and begins a new lifestyle while still working at her mid-town corporate job. But what begins as a solution to a tight budget soon becomes a challenge to her sense of self. Her boat, and the access to open water that it provides, lur her away from the world she had, until then, struggled to be a part of.

They're planning a long, leisurely cruise through the Caribbean a time to get to know one another better and forge the foundation of a relationship, or decide they don't want one. But they soon realize that neither of them is cut out for an aimless life. They undertake a treasure hunt sponsored by a sailing magazine, which leads them back to a puzzle first encountered in Trouble in Paradise.
